Health & PE Gr K-12 Concentration
Our undergraduate Health & P.E. Gr K-12 concentration in the Kinesiology program prepares students to become active as future teachers and coaches. Upon completion of this program, students receive certification from the Louisiana Department of Education. This program also is approved by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) and is nationally recongized and accredited by the the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Program (CAEP).
The Health & P.E. Grades K-12 concentration combines principles of teaching with the concepts behind fitness, movement, and activity. We'll cover educational and developmental psychology, classroom management, biomechanics, biology, technology in health and kinesiology, motor behavior and control, anatomy and physiology, coaching, and more.
The curriculum is a combination of courses in teaching methodology (with applied field experiences) and kinesiology science courses which culminates with the yearlong Teacher Residency in area schools.
