Health & Physical Education Gr K-12, P.B.C.
To be admitted to any non-master's Certification-Only program, a candidate must fulfill each of the following requirements:
Degree: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
GPA: Cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5
Exams: Submit passing scores for one of the following:
- All sections of the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators:Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Passing Scores: 5712 Reading ( > 156); 5722 Writing ( > 162); 5732 Math ( > 150))
- ACT Composite score 22 or higher
- SAT score of 1030 or higher
In addition to the scores list above, students must submit passing scores on the Praxis Health & Physical Education: Content Knowledge (5857); Passing Score: ( > 160)
Resume: One-page summary of educational and work experiences
Philosophy: One-page essay outlining your reasons for and commitment to teaching
Course Requirements: 15 credits in HLTH/KNES approved courses required prior to program entry
Please call the Office of Student Services at 337-482-6681 to schedule an appointment to have your transcripts and Praxis scores evaluated. *EDCI 450 and READ 410 provide 80 hours of "Classroom Readiness" and must be completed prior to official acceptance into this program.
