Student Teaching for Health & Physical Education

Because certified health and physical education teachers in Louisiana may teach in grades K through 12, student teachers are required to complete assignments in both an elementary school setting and a secondary (middle or high school) setting. Students who are planning to be certified K-12 health and physical education teachers must apply for student teaching assignments with the Office of Teacher Clinical Experiences. To be eligible to student teach, students must have a minimum adjusted grade point average of 2.5, and a 2.5 for the professional education component and their teaching specialty. Prospective student teachers must have also passed all parts of the PRAXIS and have a signed Curriculum Cross Check.
