Alt. Cert. Health & PE Admissions Requirements

To be admitted to any non-master's alternate certification program, a candidate must fulfill each of the following requirements:

Degree:                              Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university

GPA:                                   Cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5

Praxis Exams:                    Passing scores on all sections of the Core Academic Skills for Educators Test

                                 5712 Reading ( > 156); 5722 Writing ( > 162); 5732 Math ( > 150)

                                 OR

                                 ACT Waiver - Composite 22 or higher; SAT-1030 or higher

                                     Passing scores on the Praxis content test appropriate for the area and/or level:

                                 Praxis II H & PE Content Exam 5857 ( > 160)

Resume:                             One-page summary of educational and work experiences

Philosophy:                        One-page essay outlining your reasons for and commitment to teaching

Course Requirements:       15 credits in HLTH/KNES approved courses required prior to program entry

Please call the Office of Student Services at 337-482-6681 to schedule an appointment to have your transcripts and Praxis scores evaluated. *EDCI 450 and READ 410 provide 80 hours of "Classroom Readiness" and must be completed prior to official acceptance into this program.
