Our undergraduate program prepares future teachers and coaches for Health & Physical Education, Grades K-12. Upon completion of this program, students receive certification from the Louisiana Department of Education. This program also is approved by the Louisiana State Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
The Health & Physical Education curriculum combines principles of teaching with the concepts behind fitness, movement, and activity. We'll cover educational and developmental psychology, classroom management, biomechanics, biology, technology in health and kinesiology, motor behavior and control, anatomy and physiology, coaching, and more.
The curriculum is a combination of courses in teaching methodology (with applied field experiences) and kinesiology science courses which culminates with a student teacher internship in area schools.
Ms. Jo Charles' students recently competed against a group of local seniors in Pickle Ball.
