Scholarship

 
The following list outlines the criteria for each scholarship awarded in the College of Education .

If you are interested in applying for one of these scholarships, you must download and complete the Scholarship Application Form [Word 6 Format, Rich Text Format (to view and print) ].on the College of Education webpage

Forms to apply are available in the Dean's Office, College of Education , MDD 105. The form can also be accessed on the ULS website www.ulsystem.net -- click on "Staff Links," then "Forms." Twelve scholarships will be awarded.
 
Requirements:
You must be enrolled in 12 hours of course work to be eligible for scholarships.
 
Martin S. Bourg Scholarship Criteria
GPA 2.8 overall. 3.3 in Kinesiology courses. U.S. Citizen. LA resident.
Senior. Male majoring in Kinesiology. Teacher certification.
 
James J. Buquet, Jr. Family Foundation Scholarship in Education
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. Jr. status. (May not be given every year.) ** Two Scholarships 1 male and 1 female J.
 
Otto "Chingie" Broussard Memorial Education Award
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen, LA resident. Final - semester senior, teacher certification and planning to teach in Louisiana .
 
Bella Nickerson Chappuis Endowed Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen, LA resident and graduate of a Lafayette Parish high school. Secondary education major. Jr. or Sr.
 
Clarence H. and Ezell Butaud Coleman Memorial Endowed Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. citizen, LA resident. Jr. or Sr. *** 3 scholarships Education Major available.
 
Dr. Robert J. "Bud" and Mary Ducharme Endowed Scholarship
GPA 2.8 overall minimum. U.S.Citizen, LA resident (3 years). Teacher Certification. Involvement in extra-curricular activities within the university, community and professional organizations. Jr. or Sr. (St. Landry Parish resident-if possible)
 
En Avant, Inc., Endowed Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen, LA resident and Lafayette Parish resident. Jr. or Sr. *** 2 Scholarships available.
 
Major Burton Fontenot Memorial Education Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen and LA resident. Jr. or Sr. Elementary Education Major.
 
Joan and Alexander Haig Endowed Scholarship in Education
GPA 2.5 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen. Jr. or Sr. Secondary, Vocational, Elementary, Special, Health & Physical Education major. *** 5 Scholarships available (1 in each major)
 
Hollingsworth Endowment Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen. Jr. or Sr. *** 3 Scholarships available.
 
Iberia Savings Bank Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen. LA resident of Acadia , Iberia , Lafayette , St. Mary, or Vermilion Parishes. Senior.
 
Junior League of Lafayette Endowed Scholarship in Education
GPA 3.0 minimum. U.S. Citizen. LA resident. Jr. or Sr. Elementary Education Major. Acadiana resident with preference to females in Lafayette parish.
 
Lafayette Parish Retired Teachers Association Memorial Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. U.S. Citizen. LA resident. Majoring in a high demand field.
 
Hugh Duncan McLaurin Endowed Scholarship
Female-Majoring in Kinesiology. GPA 2.8 overall with 3.3 in Kinesiology courses. Jr. or Sr.
 
Daniel "Sonny" Roy, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Kinesiology
GPA 2.8 overall with 3.3 in Kinesiology courses. U.S. Citizen. LA resident.
Jr. or Sr. One scholarship must go to Sports Medicine - Concentration, One scholarship may go to Allied Health Concentrations. **** 4 scholarships.
 
Dr. Allen and Mary Alice St. Martin Scholarship
GPA 3.0 overall minimum. Minimum ACT score of 20. U.S. Citizen. LA resident.
Graduate of public high school from one of the following parishes: Acadia, Vermilion, Evangeline, St. Landry , Iberia , Lafayette , St. Mary, and St. Martin. Jr. or Sr. majoring in Education
 
Catherine V. Moore Memorial Scholarship
Female- majoring in Kinesiology. GPA 2.8 overall with 3.3 in Kinesiology courses. So., Jr. or Sr.
 
Dr. Thomas G. Clausen Classroom Teachers Scholarship in the amount of $750.00 per academic year is now available to undergraduate education majors who meet the following criteria:
(1) Upper Division in the College of Education ;
(2) 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA; and
(3) preference will be given to applicants
(a) who are Louisiana residents;
(b) have financial need;
(c) intend to teach in shortage specialty areas; and
(d) who are non-traditional students.
